i might be wrong, but i was pretty sure that Sony designed the PS2 with the ability to add an HDD before Xbox was released, and i am also sure that Nintendo had a specific slot on the bottom of the N64 for a HDD. Sony also used that same HDD slot on the PS2 for their network adapter, so if people wanted to go on the internet they could. i made a comment on this article on riptens website (under Guy Incognito) about the acronyms and i got blasted from a person dubbed "360fan" and the author of the article Dan Landis. Dan says and i quote "I’ve never seen anyone in the history of forever abbreviate Gears of War like GeoW. You’re crazy, Guy." So i went on to explain how the video game media coined the acronym GoW for God of War, and all the rest that goes with that story.

was Gameday 97, man that was for the PS1. I am not so into sport games, but its seems that EA is actually doing a good job on it if they are willing to show it on the PS3

at least square enix has all the FFVII character models from the movie, which should help a great deal.
i wouldn't say that microsoft copied the L1 and R1 buttons form Sony. they learned from the L2 and R3 buttons, also the L3 and R3 buttons (Clicking the Analog sticks)
